Small Town Fast & Furious

We headed back to Mayberry Baxter this weekend to visit friends & family. Unfortunately we didn’t get there soon enough to attend the car show to see Andy’s Dad’s 1969 Camero win “Best Appearing” but we did get to check it out and Andy even got a ride.

After 5+ years of work this “little project” is finally up and running and proving to be a crowd favorite.

Andy & his Dad got buckled in to take it for spin out in front of the shop.

Much to my surprise the speed made Andy a little nervous…and they didn’t even kick in the NOS! Let me tell you…that thing it L-O-U-D and fast! They tore down the street like I don’t know what.

Shortly after their return we were sitting around in the shop and heard a loud engine revving up outside …we all look at each other – who could that be? Turns out their little joy ride stirred up the interest of a local friend who heard the beast roaring down the road so this guy decided to bring his (awesome) Dodge Charger by the shop to investigate. Hil-arious. Talk about boys and their toys!

We’re headed back next weekend again and they’re gonna put the Camero in the parade. I am by no means a gearhead, and I’m not really big on loud anything, but you don’t need to be to appreciate this car, it’s pretty amazing. Just to think that it was built from the ground up, piece by piece…I can’t even imagine.

P.S. I know I jokingly call Andy’s truck a monster truck, but his brother’s truck is GIANT. It happened to be down at the shop so I took a photo to share:

Last summer I made it my mission to get into that thing without any help. I fell down. A lot.  But, try, try again, right?! Bumps, bruises, and one skinned knee later, I made it because I’m stubborn like that!
