I Love Weddings!

We loaned our giant cupcake stand to our friends a couple weeks ago and it looked pretty awesome!!!

Shameless plug: Handy Andy is for hire to make your very own Giant Cupcake Stand!
Or, don’t forget if you have your own version of a Handy Andy at home you can make your own!

The Seifferts were nice enough to hire me to make their programs, favor tags in addition to the invitations!

I also did some fun decals for the reception and the get away car. Please forgive my feeble attempt at snapping  a photo, my camera is on its last leg. The Seifferts promised me some good shots from their photographer, so stay tuned for those!. :-)

Creative Outlet

Despite my attempt to devote this weekend to studying for my upcoming exams I broke down and did some crafting. :-) I can’t help it…every so often I feel the NEED to “make something” whether it’s crafting, building, baking (I did just make some banana bread tonight too!) or whatever, that’s my stress release. I completed Veronica’s graduation announcements but since she won’t get them for another couple days I figured it’s only fair to wait to show you after she sees them. ;-)

Here’s a new little item that has been floating around in my head for awhile. Well, the basic idea of it has; (since I saw something Kim W. made) and I literally threw this design together last night as a test run for the plaques Andy custom cut for me and I think it’s pretty cute. Have a look:

It reads: “I choose you to be no other than yourself. Loving what I know of you, trusting what I do not yet know. I will respect you as an individual, a partner, and an equal. I promise to laugh with you when times are good and endure with you when they are bad. You are my best friend and I will love you always.”

I took a photo from our wedding of our rings on my bouquet and overlayed our vows. I printed it, adhered it to a wooden plaque, and added vinyl lettering and embellishments. Fun, right?

Have I mentioned that I CAN’T WAIT TO BE DONE WITH SCHOOL so I can play more with my fun tools?!?! I’m looking to put on some “Make and Take” events too, for anyone interested! ;-)

In the Blink of an Eye…

another month has passed me by. A schedule like ours will do that though. I think my body finally gave up because I’ve been a little under the weather. Guess I can’t complain; I prayed I’d stay healthy for the wedding and that all went well, then I pushed my luck for Hong Kong and that was fine. If I must be sick I suppose now is as good as time as any. Although it sort of caused me to miss the craft show I was looking forward to doing this weekend. :-( We just had way too much going on so I didn’t get enough prepared…and then Andy has been a study-freak for our upcoming exams. (He’s so much better than me in that regard…) That poor guy has literally studied for probably 20+ hours this weekend. I tried…I really did, but I just can’t force myself to concentrate on stuff I’m not interested in like he can.

Skipping back a couple weeks as it turns out I did not get to throw myself a Thirty, Flirty & Fabulous birthday party. :-( Again, we just had WAY too much going on to even think about it. Andy was nice enough to invite a few friends over for a nice dinner and conversation. That same week I got to have dinner with Wendy, Jason, and their kids while we continued to plan their wedding. Grandma & Grandpa took Andy & me out for lunch one day and Tara & Steph took me out for brunch another day. We had a lot of laughs; The three of us are the epitome of the phrase “Growing older is necessary, growing up it optional.” So, even though a big soiree would have been fun I’m not dissatisfied with my milestone birthday this year.

So far I’m okay with being out of my 20s. Doesn’t seem much different…the only “weird” thing is that I got to thinking I was 10 years old when my mom turned 30. I’m one of the last people in my group of my childhood friends to have kids but it’s a weird feeling to think I’m certainly old enough to have a 10 year old. (But let’s not forget, to be fair I DO have a pug that will be 9 years old this summer!) Today we had a wedding planning party at Wendy’s and Jessica was talking about her new car she got. She had driven her old one for a quite a while and she realized that by the time she’s done with this new car she will very likely be giving it to her son because in six years he will have his license. That makes us SOUND old, but I don’t FEEL old!

Oh well…here’s to another decade! Once I get this darn MBA out of the way I look forward to enjoying life again!

FYI

I recently did some touch up painting to our cupcake stand because we’re loaning it to our friends for their upcoming wedding and we then are selling it to another bride afterwards. Wanted to let you all know I’ve added more info and photos on my old post if you want to make your own  giant cupcake stand!

New & Improved Workshop

Remember my fun workshop? I happened to mention to Andy that I would like to move some equipment and stuff into our back room in the basement because I didn’t have any place to put it in my existing room. He wasn’t having that. :-) He’s convinced I have all the room I need in this room and he doesn’t want elle Z designs taking over the entire basement. Fair enough.

Look how bare that back corner is! TONS of wasted space.

Once again, thank you Handy Andy.

Plenty of room for all my inventory and supplies!

I now have a TON more storage and workspace.

Andy’s next task is to figure out how to fit the heat press I just ordered into my workshop!!! ;-)

Crazy Kid…

My niece Aaliyah was over for lunch and showed me this:

I freaked out a little bit. “OMG!!! What the heck happened to your face?” I gasped, thinking she had been beat…or got in a fight, or had been hurt in some way or something.

Grandma calmed me down and said that apparently her lovely daycare gave the kids poppers to play with. You know, the plastic things that look like this:

But wait…it wasn’t just the three. They gave her seventeen. Because they came in packs, Aaliyah explained.

And apparently they let her suction them all over her face. Nice. (In defense of the daycare my niece can sometimes tell tales so I don’t know for SURE the daycare gave them to her. But, I will say her daycare is not my favorite place so I wouldn’t put it past them.)

P.S. After I realized she wasn’t hurt, and this was her own doing, I just had to go grab my camera. Aaliyah told me, “Hey, it’s not funny!” when I asked to take her picture. I wasn’t laughing, but her response  made me laugh a little. :-)

It really is her own fault, she’s old enough to know better. It kind of reminded me of the 4th grade when my classmate told me to squeeze my chin real hard for 30 seconds. I looked very similar to Aaliyah. The things we do when we’re kids, right?!

Uncle Andy was more annoyed at the very thought of these stupid toys than anything. Haha! Needless to say, he confiscated every single popper she had on her.  :-) Surprisingly, she handed them over willingly. That husband of mine…he has his ways.
