Shower #1

Andy’s family threw us a very nice shower last weekend (thanks again Resa & Marsha!!) and I got the opportunity to meet some of his Florida family. We received many wonderful gifts. Here are some photos from that day:

(Love the colors!) ;-)

Some of our gifts included…a digital toaster, appetizer displays, glasses,
dishes, cutting board,

vanilla and raspberry vodka (perfect for fabulous martinis!), photo frame,
shop vac, and so much more.

I got my KitchenAid mixer! I have wanted one of these forever! My grandma
has one and it when I was little I would spend the night and make cookies with her.
We have the perfect kitchen too…now I just need to find the time. :-)

Andy got Guitar Hero III, with the Aerosmith game!

The night before we attended a wedding which gave me a chance to double check I hadn’t missed anything. (Andy brought up something pretty important…the marriage license! Okay, need to get that on my list of things to do for sure!) I cannot believe that I forgot my camera at home that weekend. Ben & Casee’s wedding was wonderful. The ceremony was short and sweet (the best kind!) and everything was gorgeous. Their colors were black and gold and I was excited to see the bridesmaids in black. Of course, I’m biased. :-) They did an awesome job on centerpieces; there were a few different styles so not every table was the same. I really liked the variety.

It was a really good weekend. The weather was great, we got a chance to party with friends and then relax with friends and family the next day. It doesn’t get much better than that! I’m just putting the finishing touches on things to hopefully do it all over again this weekend at our new home so stay tuned for more!!

Whatever Will I Do Once the Wedding is Over?

I’ll keep on craftin’!! (Oh yeah, and try to put a little more effort into homework and housework…if I can find the time – LOL!) :-)

I am looking forward to having more time to work on non-wedding related things. One of which is vinyl wall art. I’m having such a good time playing with vinyl and decorating our new house I’m just about ready to take orders from others. So…I invite you to poke around this awesome website www.myvinyldesigner.com for ideas. If you see something you like let me know because I’ll be ready to take orders in no time. Do not purchase the graphic, let me do that; your choice of design is included in the price. I just need to know the design number, the color you want, and the dimensions and I can get you a quote.

And be on the lookout for some custom pieces at the reception…specifically on the dance floor! Yep – you can use these pieces as temporary art to decorate for weddings, parties, etc. This material has a matte finish and looks almost like you’ve painted it on your wall, floor, etc. It’s a 3-year material and can be easily removed without harming the surface; great for temporary and short term decorating. I have a fair amount of colors in stock, but there are 48 color options! I have found that black, white, and brown look the best in most homes. However, if you like color or want to decorate a child’s room there are plenty shades of green, blue, pink and yellow to get as crazy as you like! And as always, I can personalize or custom design your decals if you have something specific in mind!!

Decorate Your Cupcakes

How fun are these?? Personalized laser cut cupcake liners!

Not sure if we’ll be using any at the wedding, but I wanted to see if I could make them. They’re  available in my Etsy Shop: http://ellezdesigns.etsy.com

Improvise!

I wasn’t loving the flower girl baskets I found in the stores or online and I certainly didn’t want to pay the price they were asking if I didn’t really like it. While at the craft store I bought a cute little dark brown basket. I had Andy spray paint it black. I tried putting ribbons on it but that wasn’t doing it for me either. So I sat for a bit. I looked it up and down. I flipped it around. I looked around my super fun workshop and spotted the fabric I bought for the cupcake tower but didn’t use. ZING! That ought to do it! So I pulled out a mess of supplies and started playing.

My Mess

Here’s what you can do with some scrap fabric, ribbon & glue:

I think Aaliyah will like it. :-) It kinda reminds me of this AWESOME line of kid’s stuff I found called Little Miss Matched.  Stripes and dots and squiggles, oh my!  :-)

Short Update

Whew! 10 minutes ago Renee & I sealed the very last invitation. 214 of those bad boys are headed out tomorrow  to friends and family. That was QUITE a project. But it was so much fun!

Tonight Renee & I are headed to try on my beloved wedding gown then take it to the seamstress!!! Maybe I’ll post some photos if Andy can promise not to peek!!

Eeek!! The countdown is on and it’s all becoming so real now. I have a feeling I may go through some wedding craft withdrawal once this is all over. LOL

It Just Keeps Gettin’ Better

Behold…our latest creation!!

I found a super fun photo online of a black & white cupcake stand so after much consideration we decided we would go with cupcakes in lieu of the traditional wedding cake. (What? Moi going untraditional…NO!!!) ;-) Of course, we agreed it had to be classy and fun, certainly not like a fourth grade bake sale type cupcake display. No way. So after some discussion with Aunt Pam, who will be doing our cake/cupcakes, the three of us came up with a design and just a few trips to the store and several hours later the above photo is what we came up with!!!

Don’t be frightened by the crazy hook like sculpture on top, it’s an ornament stand and we’re considering using it, but we’ll see. We do plan to have a small cake on the very top. I was really hoping to use black cupcake liners, but I can’t seem to find them anywhere. Seems odd…especially around Halloween. Grrr.

The cupcake stand isn’t actually finished yet but I couldn’t wait to share it with the world! :-) We plan to add black trim and maybe some pink ribbon and bows around the boxes. But quite honestly, I think it could easily be used as is. At just over three and a half feet tall this thing is sturdy, and heavy. Made with plywood, foam board and fabric.

Do you want to know the best part…we designed it so the panels are completely interchangeable!!! How awesome is that?! We can swap them out and reuse this baby for special events or holidays. Or maybe resell or rent it! Or, knowing me, if I change my mind I can reupholster the whole thing! :-) Does it surprise anyone that I have polka-dot and stripe fabric too, just in case?! LOL

Thank you Aunt Pam for your ideas and inspiration and thank you, thank you, THANK YOU Andy for being so awesome and handy. :-) Just goes to show that we are SO good together!!
