How to Shave a Pug

So funny I cried. We’re totally doing this later this week. Maybe I’ll post a video of our own. Or some photos for sure!

When I first got Max I was annoyed that he was shaved. I thought it was mean and unnecessary. However, I have since realized it was more about him being nearly starved that annoyed me, not so much the butch cut.

The pugs have a ridiculous amount of shedding going on and while we’ve done almost as much as humanly possible (ok, to be fair, mostly Andy has been proactively addressing the issue) – changing their diet, brushing, washing, begging, etc. they continue to shed all over the place. I’m talking gobs and gobs. And gobs. Seriously. All over the house, in my Jeep, under the couch, on our clothes, EVERYWHERE. In the deepest darkest of corners in the basement where no pug has gone before there are disgusting pug fur tumbleweeds that no amount of vacuuming, cleaning and scrubbing can totally eliminate. So, after doing a little research I’ve agreed to let Andy try his hand at a little more advanced dog grooming and shave the pugs.

Has anyone else shaved their pet(s) as a means to deal with a shedding problem??

Stay tuned for what I’m sure will be some funny photos!! (A Mohawk for Putter perhaps?!) :-)

Oh my gosh… we have two pugs and they shed like CRAZY too. I hadn’t even thought to shave them. We have just been furminator-ing all the time. How did I not know I could shave them?

I got to your blog from a qcweddings post… I’m really enjoying your posts. Looks like your wedding is going to be lovely. ((Adding to my blogroll))
